Cast Studio (formerly David Barr Architects)
Architecturally designed homes defined by purpose and character.
Cast Studio is the practice David Barr founded in 2010 and led for a decade as David Barr Architects, renamed to reflect a collective team culture. Working from Fremantle with a second office in Canberra, the studio is built on an ethos of problem-solving, pairing resourcefulness with delight. Its Gen Y Demonstration Housing Project in White Gum Valley took the WA Sustainable Architecture Award and drew national attention, and the practice has since contributed to state apartment design guidelines and City of Fremantle infill housing frameworks. The residential work favours geometric modernity softened by natural finishes.
A genuinely award-decorated Fremantle practice whose influence extends into state housing policy, with a distinctive material language for heritage additions and new homes.
