Matthews McDonald Architects

Architecture specific to place, from the Hills to the South West.

Matthews McDonald Architects is one of the few practices genuinely operating across both the Perth Hills and the South West, with studios on Whadjuk and Wardandi Country. Directors Leonie Matthews and Paul McDonald work at a deliberately small scale, taking a strong interest in materials and making, and guiding clients through design, approvals and construction personally. The practice took recognition at the 2025 WA Architecture Awards for Parnell Avenue.

Why they made the list

2025 WA Awards recognition plus genuine dual-region capability across the Hills and South West, which very few Perth practices offer.
